DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ACCRA, GHANA

DAY 2: ACCRA

Tennis at your hotel before the sun gets too strong. Go on a city tour of Accra, Ghana’s capital city, visiting Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the National Museum, uniquely designed casket shops, and the Arts and crafts market. Meet and interact with executives and members of the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA) to share experiences and ideas. Return to your hotel for a game of tennis or a swim.

DAY 3: ACCRA - AKOSOMBO

Depart Accra on a scenic drive to Akosombo in Ghana’s Eastern Region. Arrive by late morning and enjoy a boat trip on the Volta River, stopping at some of the villages along the river. Walking along the river to socialize with the villagers is an option. Check into your hotel and enjoy a game of tennis.

DAY 4: AKOSOMBO – WLI – TAIFI A ATOME – AKOSOMBO

This morning, visit the Wli waterfalls, reputed to be the highest waterfalls in Ghana. Your last stop will be a visit to Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary. Enjoy a game of tennis in the evening at your hotel (the courts are floodlit).

DAY 5: AKOSOMBO –KUMASI

Tennis at your hotel before the sun gets too strong. Depart Akosombo for Kumasi by mid-morning. Drive past several scenic villages with fine examples of traditional Ghanaian buildings.

Arrive in Kumasi by late afternoon and visit a few Ashanti craft villages to observe craftsmen at work and purchase souvenir gift items from the wide assortment of handicrafts on sale. This is a unique opportunity to purchase souvenirs or gifts. Check into your hotel and the rest of the day is free to relax.

DAY 6: KUMASI

Tennis at your hotel before the sun gets too strong. After breakfast, go on a city tour of Kumasi visiting the Manhyia Palace Museum. The Museum was built by the British in 1925 to receive Asantehene (ruler of the Ashanti people) Prempeh I when he returned from exile in the Seychelles to resume residence in Kumasi. It now serves as a museum.

Continue to visit the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and the Okomfo Anokye Sword. Drive past Kumasi Central Market, one of the largest open-air markets in West Africa. Return to your hotel and enjoy a game of tennis in the evening at your hotel.

DAY 7: KUMASI - ELMINA

Depart Kumasi for Elmina in Ghana’s Central Region. Stop en route at the village of Mesomagor to see the Mesomagor Bamboo Orchestra at their musical best. The orchestra has revived the traditional art, by performing with bamboo percussion instruments to music and dance. This is a contagious dance performance you have not seen anywhere else. Check into your hotel and enjoy a game of tennis in the evening at your hotel.

DAY 8: ELMINA

Tennis at your hotel before the sun gets too strong. Depart Elmina after breakfast to visit the Kakum National Park. Go on a morning walk on the “Kuntan Trail” with its countless trees with medicinal properties. For the young at heart experience the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Return to your hotel and enjoy a game of tennis in the evening at your hotel.

DAY 9: ELMINA - BUSUA

After tennis in the early morning, depart for Ghana’s Western Region for a visit to the Nzulezu village-on-stilts, then to Busua for an overnight stay. Those with reserved energy can enjoy tennis on a floodlit court or simply spend the evening of pure relaxation by the poolside, listening to some live music.

DAY 10: BUSUA - ACCRA

Play a friendly tournament with the Busua Beach Resort tennis club. Check out the Busua Beach Resort. Depart Busua for Accra with stops to visit the Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, UNESCO World Heritage Monuments, for guided tours. Arrive in Accra by late afternoon and the rest of the day is free for last-minute shopping. In the evening, proceed for a farewell dinner with traditional entertainment and a naming ceremony.
