DAY 1:                 THURSDAY      -             ARRIVAL IN ACCRA, GHANA

Arrive at Accra airport. Met, assisted and transferred to your hotel (Hotel Check in is at 3pm).

DAY 2:                 FRIDAY              -             ACCRA CITY TOUR

This morning, you would go on a city tour of Accra, Ghana’s capital city, visiting National Museum of History and Ethnography, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, uniquely designed casket shops and the Arts and crafts market. Continue to visit an African Dance Institute for a two exciting hours of drumming and dancing lessons with the experts.

DAY 3:                 SATURDAY      -              ACCRA – KUMASI

After breakfast, travel to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. Drive on the winding Akwapim Ridge to visit the Aburi Botanical Gardens which was established in 1890 as a convalescent centre for the British Colonial officers governing the then Gold Coast now Ghana and relax under the shade of huge trees, some of which are over hundred years old. Continue on a scenic drive to Kumasi and arrive by late afternoon.

DAY 4:                 SUNDAY             -              AKWASIDAE FESTIVAL

Depart after breakfast to visit the village is Bonwire, where the famous Kente cloth is handmade on looms in a time-honored tradition passed down through generations. You will see the Kente weavers in process of creating Kente cloth in various styles, and have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs or gifts.

 Return to Kumasi around 10 H 00 to catch the AKWASIDAE Festival of the Ashantis. The Akwasidae festival is celebrated every 42 days by the Ashantis. You will have the privilege to witness that Festival, but no guarantee for a meeting with the Ashanti King.

DAY 5:                 MONDAY           -              KUMASI – ELMINA

After breakfast, drive to Elmina in Ghana’s Central Region. Drive past several scenic villages with fine examples of traditional Ghanaian housing. Stop to visit the village of Mesomagor to see the Bamboo Orchestra at their musical best. The youth at the village of Mesomagor have revived a traditional art, by performing with bamboo percussion instruments to music and dance. This is a contagious dance performance you have not seen anywhere else.

DAY 6:                 TUESDAY          -              ELMINA

After breakfast, visit and inspect the Kakum National Park, one of Ghana's most famous parks.

Continue to visit the Cape Coast Castle which houses the West African Historical Museum for a guided tour. Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and was one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas.

Early evening, we will visit Elmina Castle; another UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1482. This castle was the first European structure built in sub-Saharan Africa.

DAY 7:                 WEDNESDAY                  -              ELMINA – ACCRA
Depart for Accra with appropriate village stops along the route. Arrive by late afternoon and rest of day is free for last minute shopping.

DAY 8:                 THURSDAY                      -              DEPARTURE

This morning is free for last minute shopping and packing. You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
