DAY 1:            ARRIVAL IN ACCRA, GHANA

Arrive at Accra airport. Met, assisted and transferred to your hotel (Hotel Check in is at 3pm).

DAY 2:            ACCRA CITY TOUR

This morning, you would go on a city tour of Accra, Ghana’s capital city, visiting Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, National Museum, uniquely designed casket shops and the Arts and crafts market.

DAY 3:            ACCRA – ABURI

After breakfast we depart to the foot of the Akuapim Ridge. Continue by bike to follow the Akuapim Ridge to Aburi. At Aburi, we visit the Aburi Botanical Gardens, a habitat for plants from all over the world. 3 - 4 hours cycling

DAY 4:            ABURI – KOFORIDUA

Proceed from Aburi by bike through the mountains on many farming foot trails, dirt paths and forests to visit the Boti Waterfalls. Continue by car to Koforidua, capital of Ghana’s Eastern Region; it is a region of rich blend of dramatic landscapes, historic relics and traditional cultures. 3 - 4 hours cycling

DAY 5:            KOFORIDUA – OBO KWAHU

Depart Koforidua on a scenic drive to Obo Kwahu with a stop at Tafo to visit the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana, initially established to investigate problems of pest and diseases. Go on a guided tour through the various laboratories and experimental cocoa farms. Discover the wide varieties of products produced from cocoa.  Visit Adawso to enjoy a canoe ride on Lake Volta, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.

DAY 6:            OBO KWAHU

This morning enjoy a 7km hiking and cycling from Obo to Aduamuah and if you have the energy you can cycle to the Volta Lake for an unforgettable experience. Rest of day is free to relax in your hotel or explore the Obo Kwahu Township on your own. 3 - 4 hours cycling

DAY 7:            OBO KWAHU – KUMASI

Drive down the winding Kwahu Ridge to Kumasi, capital of Ghana’s Ashanti Region. Arrive and go on a city tour of Kumasi visiting the Manhyia Palace Museum, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and the Okomfo Anokye Sword. Drive past Kumasi Central Market, the largest open-air market in West Africa. Visit a few Ashanti craft villages to observe craftsmen at work and to purchase souvenir gift items from the wide assortment of handicrafts on sale.

DAY 8:            KUMASI – BUSUA

Depart Kumasi for Busua in Ghana’s Western Region. Stop en route in a village to visit an “akpeteshie” distillery to observe the rudiments of local gin processing. Akpeteshie is a home-made alcoholic spirit produced in Ghana and other West African nations by distilling palm wine or sugar cane juice.  Arrive by late afternoon and check into your guest house. Rest of day is free to relax on the beach.

DAY 9:            BUSUA

Proceed from Busua by bike to Dixcove. At Dixcove, we visit the historic Fort Metal Cross which was constructed by the English in 1693. Discover the bustling fishing community and the fascinating indigenous culture of the people of Dixcove.  3 - 4 hours cycling

DAY 10:         BUSUA – ELMINA

Depart Axim by car to Elmina in the Central Region of Ghana. Visit Fort Groot Freiderischsburg located in Princess Town, this fort was built by the Brandeburgers (Germans) in 1683. In the afternoon, we will visit Elmina Castle; a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1482 by the Portugese. This castle was the first European structure built in sub-Saharan Africa.  Check into your resort and rest of day is free to relax on the beach.

DAY 11:         ELMINA – KAKUM – ACCRA

Depart Elmina after breakfast to visit the Kakum National Park. Go on a morning walk of the “Kuntan Trail” with its countless trees with medicinal properties. For the young at heart experience the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Depart for Accra, Ghana’s capital city. Arrive in Accra by afternoon and rest of day is free for last minute shopping.

DAY 12:         ACCRA - DEPART

This morning is free for last minute shopping and packing. You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
